Work + Racing + Travel + New Puppy = What We’ve Been Up to For the Past Few Weeks

First, let us apologize for going radio silent for the past few weeks. Time really does fly when you’re having fun!

We’ve both been busy with work projects that seem to have us running from 8-5 (and sometimes well beyond that), but we’re learning a lot and feel really grateful for the experiences we’ve had working in the San Diego marketing world since we moved here almost 1.5 years ago.

C ran the America’s Finest City Half Marathon in mid-August, and boy was it a scorcher! She knew at the start line as the sun came up that it was going to be a warm day; she doesn’t fair so well in hot races and it definitely wasn’t anywhere near her best half time, but it was the final of three races to obtain the Triple Crown medal, so hooray!

We both took trips with friends over the Labor Day weekend: G to Miami and C to Nashville. We both had a nice time taking in the sights and visiting with friends, but ultimately we were so happy to fly back to San Diego and leave that humidity far behind.

Our biggest (and best) news is that we adopted a sweet little French Bulldog puppy we named Typo at the beginning of August. He is such a little lover and can’t stand to be away from us. We’re pretty sure this is what having a baby is like, except he doesn’t wear diapers and he’ll never learn to feed himself. From crate training to vet appointments and countless trips to Petco, we’ve finally settled back into a more normal routine where we each have time to run during the week AND spend time together.

Puppy = game changer for a while. We can’t wait t take him to the beach and hiking when he gets a bit older.

So what’s next? We’re both registered for the California International Marathon in Sacramento in December, but other that that we’re still finalizing fall running plans. Ultimately, C would like to qualify for Boston in the next couple of years so she’s picking up her speed workouts and focusing on that goal. G is in love with running the ultra distances and trails, and he is setting goals and planning for the remainder of this year and into 2015!

Stay tuned for healthy, comfort food-inspired recipes and updates on our fall training.

What about you? Are you taking advantage of the fall weather to train for a race?
